University of Michigan Museum of Natural History

Gallery Updates

In the three years since University of Michigan Museum of Natural History opened their new facility, they have been observing visitor behavior in the exhibit galleries. Bluewater Studio was selected to work with museum staff on remediation design and production work to make the exhibits more visitor friendly, easier to use, and more robust.

Our team updated sections of two galleries: Within the “Evolution: Life Through Time” gallery we redesigned the dinosaur corner and reconfigured the large reader rails in the dinosaur and mammal sections to make the content more readily accessed and understood by visitors. We also updated six floor-to-ceiling wood pillars and graphics highlighting major extinctions throughout history. Additionally, Bluewater made improvements to several interactive wheels within the “Under the Microscope” exhibit to increase readability and to make them more intuitive and physically easier for visitors to use.
